Author Anne McCaffrey brings us the tale of a very strongly talented telepath/telekinetic woman who lost her family at the beginning of the book. When she was found she asked to be called The Rowan since that is all that she could remember. Along the course of her life she would like anyone make and lose friends, fall in love with someone whom dose love her but can't show it since she's at the top of the Talent ranks as a Prime. Then one night she hears a cry for help from across the stars and that is Jeff Raven who's colony is being attacked by a hive mind that wants nothing but to destroy the colony that he lives on. The Rowan along with the other Primes come to his assistance in defending his colony. Then after the colony is safe Jeff makes contact with the Rowan and they being to fall in love. The two of them find out that it is the Earth Prime's secret wish that they do in order to bring more Talent into the universe. The Earth Prime's wishes comes true as the Rowan who at this point in the book knows her real name and starts to accept it. Then the Hive mind returns in full force to take the colony that Jeff Raven and his family are from. This is a great book and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. I highly recommend it for all science fiction fans.
