Author Carrie Vaughn brings us a different take on the Robin Hood legend. It's been fifteen years since Prince John and the Sharif were defeated and in that time Robin married Marian and had three kids. Mary the oldest of Robin's kids is of marrying age but she is much like her father while being protective of her two younger siblings. The story picks up while both Robin and Marian are in London to meet with King John (Kind Richard Lionheart had passed away due to fighting in the Crusades.) While there they also meet up with one of the barons that Robin had already begun talks with about marrying his daughter to the barons son. Marian didn't know this was going on and wasn't happy about hearing it later because she wants her oldest daughter to marry whom she wants too like they did back when he was Robin Hood. After they get back to Locksley manor Mary and her two siblings go out into the woods of Sherwood and are kidnapped. This sets Robin and his former band of mary men on the hunt to rescue his children. This is a great novella and I like how Carrie brings the story of Robin Hood forward. I highly recommend this novella.
