In that story Sherlock defends a boy named Ages who had been one of the two picked on by both the school masters and the other students. Through Holmes's deduction we find out what happened to the boy. Then in the next novella we learn that the boy that Holmes defended had lost his father to a heart attack but it was more than that. His mother had planted the idea that a ghost was attacking him because of the work conditions. And lastly we meet the boy again in the third novella this time he is of college age and his step-father whom loves his mother is found dead with bite marks causing Holmes and Watson to investigate a homeless person living in their woods whom had the reputation of eating his friends. Holmes finds out what really happened and this leads him to think of one thing that had to do with all three cases. This is a great book and I highly recommend ti to all Sherlock Holmes fans.
