Authors Eric S. Brown & Aurelio Rico Lopez III bring us a dark tale of the last of humanity fighting against swarms of Kaiju. At the begging of the story we see the first Kaiju approaching Earth from the space station Freedom II. Aboard that station is a scientist that had dreamed of being among the stars since she was a kid. Then the stations long range sensors pick up the first Kaiju and she knows that by its wing span that it will destroy the station. She is the one to give humanity the name of the creature. Then we flash forward to when the last of humanity is in an underwater facility called The Sanctuary. One night the Sanctuary's gunners were keeping track of the schools of Kaiju that occasionally swim by but this happened to be the night that they decided to strike giving the last of humanity the fight of it's life. I highly recommend this novella for all Kaiju fans.
