Author Ivy Hearne brings us Kacie's next adventure with the Hunters' Academy. It's the start of Kacie's second semester for her second year and given what she's gone though to get to this point she wants to try and see if a theory that she has works. She want's to see if she can take the magic from the Hunters' enemies but she needs a test subject first and asks her ally within the enemy camp to provide her with one. Jolie does and the experiment turns dire as Kacie learns that by taking the magic of someone that she kills them. She is sullen by that realization and is not really ready to try again. When the Academy's headmistress and her favorite teacher Ms. Hush says that the her experiment has been approved she looks to the hunter in residence and her friend Reo. This is a great novella and I highly recommend it for all Fantasy fans. I'm looking forward to continuing reading the series once it starts up again.
