Author's Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Amderson brings us the last book in the Legends of Dune trilogy with the Battle of Corrin. Beginning 108 years before the creation of the spacing guild, Ominus has created and sent to the League of Nobles worlds a plague known as the Scourge. This forces Supreme Commander Vorian Atreides push the League Viceroy to authorize a purge of the Machine planets using space folding ships retrofitted by Vankee Enterprises. Vor leads his armada but as he reaches the end he stops at Corrin the primary machine planet. They surround the system with a barrier that will scramble any thinking machine mind to get through. And with that the Jihad was declared over. 20 years later 88 years before the creation of the spacing guild. The scurvier of Bulter family beings her crusade to destroy every thinking machine. While on Arrakis a battle of wills come into play as the son of Salim Wormrider falls for offworlder promises and his step-son disagrees with him. This conflict launches the people that we will come to know as the Fremen. While this is going on Ominus sends Parana mites to the League worlds but they are defeated thanks to Vor and his fathful Bulter who took the name of Harkonnen. I won't give away the ending but it sheds light on the foundations of the spacing Guild, the Sisterhood, and the creation of the Empire. I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to the following Schools of Dune trilogy.
