Author Sarah K.L. Wilson brings us the continuing adventure of Seleska as she runs away from her home island with her dragon charge. In the sea where she found the first portal she finds others and takes the chance that the place on the other side is better than her home village. As soon as Seleska and her dragon reach the other side they're captured by a group of people known as the Rock Eaters. They eat rocks hoping to get the power that the land holds. But Seleska who is rescued by a giant octopus finds out through her friend Heron and the dragon rider who has come to find her that the worlds magic is fading. It is up to the dragon that she has been taking care of to bring magic back and on their way to talk with a trilobite her dragon charge is captured again. This is a great novella and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book and the previous one to all Fantasy fans.
