Author R.S. Penney brings us into a world where technology is used to infuse weapons and a great threat is on horizon. Desa Kincaid is at the center of it all as she chases a man down who had experimented with the technology to infuse humans with the Eather. While on the tenth year of her chase she comes to a small town where a partner of the man who she is hunting uses his tech to to spook the locals and while she is there she frees two men. A man named Tommy who she wants to teach Feild Binding, and his boyfriend. She takes them on her voyage of vengeance with her but she realizes that Tommy's boyfriend will betray her if given the chance. At the next town she meets Miri who joins her small group and she finds out is the sister of another Feild Binder, Marcus. The four of them come across a farm where everything had turned Grey including the humans who used to run it and are now the mouthpiece of something so evil that the only way to kill them is to use some of the Grey bullets that are found along with them. This book is only the first in a series and it's a great mixture of western and science fiction. I highly recommend it.
