Author Niki Livingston brings us a haunting tale told from the perspective of L.J. a young woman who has returned to her family home to for her grandmothers funeral. During the first night that L.J. is home she hears something that provoked the family dog to bark. She then gets up and sees nothing but burning red eyes. Later the next day she asks her cousins if they heard anything and one of them brings out her cell phone and shows her pictures of the neighbors dog that looked like it was cleaved in two. L.J. doesn't say what she thinks. But at the grave site a mysterious old woman comes up to her saying that since her father isn't here that she'll do. She then calls her father and he tells her to stay away from the woman. I won't spoil the ending for you but I highly recommend this short book.
