Author Jonathan G, Meyer brings us a prequel to his Al Clark series with Christopher's Journal: A Year Alone. Christoper Morris wakes up from his hyperpod to find that he is the only one aboard the starship Excalibur to have woken up. His first few days out of the pod sees him exploring the one location that his pod was in but knowing that he couldn't get through one of the bulkhead doors and into the main body of the ship. His mother is also aboard but in a different section and as far as he knows is still asleep. As he spends is year alone he finds a crew card that can gain him access to other points of the ship. Until one day a meteor shower strikes the Excalibur and destroys one of the living pods. But his biggest surprise comes a few days later. This is a great prequel to Jonathan's original AL Clark book and I highly recommend it.
