Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn

Author Carrie Vaughn brings us an adventure with Kay Wyatt and her dragon friend Artegal. Kay is a normal high school girl who likes to hike and be out doors. Her friends Tam and Jon are her support system along with her father the local Sharif and her mom one of the agents assigned to protect the small town of Silver River from the Dragons who live across the border. One day while Kay was climbing she fell into the river and with out warning she was pulled out of it by a Dragon. A Dragon who like his mentor before him who had talked with humans was wondering what it would be like. She was frighted at first but then their friendship grew as they began to learn about each other's cultures since no one has talked to a Dragon in sixty years. One day Artegal gives Kay a book about the history of humans and Dragons and she reads that humans used to ride Dragons. They decide to try it out and on their first flight they see a plain crash in the Dragon territory, the pilot sees them but says nothing. But on their second flight an F-22 buzzes the dragon and things begin to fall apart. This is a great book and I won't spoil the ending for you but you have to pick it up if you like the works of Anne McCaffrey and her Dragon Riders of Pern series.
