Author and Artist Brian Selznick brings us the story of Hugo through words and drawings. Now mind you I first saw the film before reading the book and I can say that the film followed the book very closely. Plus it has also had the affect that I will be picking up another copy to give to my best friend David whom is like Georges Melies who started out as a magician and became a famous film maker. But back to the story of Hugo, we first meet him as he is tending to a clock in the train station and had a run in with Georges whom he steals parts for a mechanical man whom his father had found in the attic of the Paris museum where he worked. But a fire had started which killed Hugo's father. The rest of the novel goes much like the film with Hugo learning from Georges and uncovering who he really is resulting in the celebration of his films. And at the end we find out that Hugo has been stage named by Georges. I highly recommend this book and the film.
